Safe Ground™
No one should sleep without safety, dignity, or shelter.
Yet millions are displaced by poverty, crisis, or systemic failure — with nowhere to call home.
Safe Ground™ is The Soil Institute’s housing innovation initiative, creating modular, transitional, and eco-friendly shelter solutions for those who need it most. We don’t just build structures — we design dignity-centered environments rooted in justice, healing, and resilience.
Because shelter isn’t a luxury — it’s a foundation to sustain life.

Housing Built for Humans, Not Profit
Safe Ground™ develops regenerative housing models that center people, not politics. From tiny home villages and modular pods to trauma-informed transitional spaces, each solution is designed with care, dignity, and cultural relevance.
Designed with Communities — Not for Them
We co-create each Safe Ground village with residents, community leaders, and local governments. From layout and amenities to shared gardens, healing spaces, and cultural symbols — every detail is tailored to local context.
Sustainable, Scalable, and Site-Ready
Our units are built from recycled farm byproducts, renewable, and climate-adapted materials. They’re affordable to construct, fast to deploy, and adaptable to urban or rural environments — whether for individuals, families, or entire unhoused communities.
Integrated Support Systems
Safe Ground isn’t just shelter — it’s a system. Each site is linked with wraparound services like a grocery store, health care, employment assistance, mental health support, community kitchens, solar power, and digital access. We build environments that restore.
A Blueprint for Every City
Whether it’s for disaster relief, transitional housing, or long-term community design, Safe Ground offers a scalable, modular blueprint that can be activated anywhere. We’re building homes — but we’re also building models of what’s possible.
Help Keep the Ground Safe — Every Month
Your monthly gift helps us provide shelter, dignity, and stability to those without it. From construction supplies to community support services, every dollar lays a foundation. You can donate your expertise, resources, skills & knowledge. Donations don’t just mean money. Just help the people in need.
Monthly Giving: Build Safety One Square Foot at a Time
Your monthly support helps us build, maintain, and expand safe spaces where people can reset their lives with dignity.
Your Impact Could:

Support community meals and healing circles within Safe Ground villages

More Than a Donation — Be a Neighbor
You don’t have to be a builder to help us build lives:
Donate or build furniture, heaters, or solar kits
Offer your time as a volunteer or job mentor
Cook or donate meals for residents
Host a donation drive for coats, blankets, or supplies
Sponsor one home on behalf of your family, faith group, or business
Join us in community advocacy to change housing policies
Donate construction tools and building materials (wood, nails, insulation, roofing, heaters, etc.)
